5 Work from Home Tips
The outbreak of the coronavirus has more people working from home. If you’re new to working remotely, these tips can help you stay productive and maintain balance.
Have a Morning Routine
Without a commute, it’s helpful to start the day with something that wakes you up in a different way.
So plan out and develop a new morning routine to start your day. Think about the extra time you are getting back from not having the drive to work and decide how you want to best use this time.
Maybe you start your morning by writing out a to-do-list for the day or by working out.
You could do a workout in the morning, such as go on a long walk or run. Don’t want to go on a walk or run? YouTube has a plethora of fitness and workout videos.
Check out this 20-minute full-body workout routine by Pamela Reif. It’s great because she lists the exercise and has a countdown timer on the screen with you. The best part? You don’t need any weights!

Get Dressed
Shower and dress just as if you were going to work. It might seem obvious, but by Friday your brain will probably try to trick you into working from bed, in your pajamas.

Take Breaks
Leave your computer for a good chunk of time, especially for lunch. Don’t feel guilty if you have to go on a walk in the middle of the afternoon to recharge.
You could cook something, throw a load of laundry in the wash, snuggle with your pet, and even go for a walk.
Experts say that fresh air is really important these days, as long as you keep a safe distance from others.
Protect Your Space
Dedicate a workspace in your home solely for work purposes. Don’t work from your bed, so you still have places where you can relax at the end of the day.
Similarly, protect your time. Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you can spend all of your time running errands, cleaning the house or doing laundry.
Make It Cosy
If you’re feeling unproductive or unfocused, try brewing some tea, lighting a candle and putting on a playlist or podcast.
Force yourself to stay focused until the end of the playlist, or until the candle is burnt out. Hopefully, by that time, you will have gotten your productivity back!
